Bethany's Bio

Growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, with a single mother who struggled to make ends meet, Bethany was determined to go to college. But as a first-generation college applicant, she was alone in college research, writing essays, and gathering materials. “I spent many Saturdays at the library, reading every admissions guidebook to help me craft a stellar application,” she remembers. “The day I received my acceptance letter from the University of Chicago, my life was changed forever,” she remembers. “Immediately, I joined a community of scholars who loved learning for the sake of learning.”

Motivated by her own experience, Bethany works to make sure that students have the guidance they need for college admissions and financial aid. She loves watching students learn about themselves—their passions, aspirations, motivations, interests— as they discover the right colleges for them and complete their applications. Her specialties include athletic recruiting, performing arts schools, and financial aid for low- and middle-income families.

One of Bethany’s favorite student stories is that of Logan, who aspired to become a Supreme Court Justice. He was a strong student with high test scores, and very involved in extracurricular activities—but nothing out of the ordinary for a Long Island student. Still, Bethany says: “There were many things we could work on, such as writing a resume, creating a LinkedIn profile, developing a plan to connect with admissions officers, and crafting essays that told his unique story. Within Logan's activities and life experiences, I helped him genuinely show how he evolved over his high school career, his deep engagement in his community, and how seriously he took educating himself.” Logan’s first choice was Georgetown— where he is currently finishing his second year. “Logan is thriving. He got a library card at the Library of Congress, registered for a class studying rare books and literature with one of the college’s Deans, and joined the Politics and the Philodemic Society. He is on his way to realizing his career goal.”

When Bethany isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her three little ones, reading, writing, running, and scrapbooking.
