Kentaneisha excels at math and has been tutoring since high school. She has experience helping students with elementary math, algebra 1 & 2, pre-calculus, calculus, trigonometry, geometry, and differential equations. She feels fortunate to have discovered her passion for mathematics while taking a math elective at Florida State College at Jacksonville, where she received her AA degree in general studies. She then pursued a physics degree at the University of North Florida, where she honed her STEM skills; however, she pivoted to earn a BA in mathematics from Southern New Hampshire University. In addition to tutoring, she is applying to computer science programs so she can work in IT.
At Florida State, she worked in the Math Lab, which involved helping with anything math students needed. She later worked as a classroom teaching assistant, helping students with myriad questions and dilemmas. She had to think on her feet and handle an array of curve balls from various types of learners.
Kentaneisha opts for the Socratic method and dutiful practice. Her deep understanding of math principles allows her to break down problems into smaller, manageable parts. "My reasoning is to make sure the student understands the material," she says. "I believe that to teach is to lecture and to tutor is to reinforce what has been taught." She also works hard to build rapport with her tutees to create a relaxed learning environment. She tries to kindle a passion for equations in her students and hopes to promote lifelong learning.
Kentaneisha was in the Math Honor Society and the National Art Honors Society in high school. She made the dean's list at Southern New Hampshire University. She currently spends her free time watching Netflix and Hulu, traveling, and attending various activities at her church.
