PrepNow Tutor - Pranavi P.
A recent graduate, Pranavi is passionate about learning, helping others, and staying curious. She has been involved in numerous fields throughout her educational career, including technology, teaching, non-profit, and consulting. She holds a BS in mathematical sciences and computer science with a minor in creative writing from the University of Michigan. Pranavi is currently tutoring test prep before transitioning to her full-time job in management consulting.
Pranavi’s first teaching experience was when she was fifteen, as a student volunteer with her local Math Olympiad. “This experience was the first of several that opened my eyes to the world of teaching and how much I loved being a part of it,” Pranavi shares. “I believe it's a privilege to be able to help others expand their knowledge, and part of the corresponding responsibility is to always be a learner yourself.” Pranavi has continued tutoring throughout her education, teaching test prep, math, computer science, and college-level AI/ML model building and data science.
“My teaching style is encouraging, question-oriented, and motivated by self-inquiry,” Pranavi says. “One of the things I found most valuable during my time as a college student was becoming comfortable with not immediately knowing the answer. It taught me patience, logical consideration, and trust that I would eventually be able to unlock the mystery behind what seems to be a puzzle at the moment.” While Pranavi firmly believes time in tutoring should be focused on building problem-solving skills and answering questions, she also feels it’s equally important to help students sit with confusion and teach them how to independently reason themselves out of it. “That way, they can learn that their brains can work with what they already know and solve things outside of tutoring help!”
In high school, Pranavi played flute and was involved in Girls Who Code, student government, buildOn, and the Ann Arbor Math Olympiad Club. In college, she participated in Women in Math, Michigan Sahana, Women in Science and Engineering Residence Program, and New England Literature Program. During her sophomore and junior years in college, Pranavi worked part-time as a Junior Software Developer for Amazon. She ranked 1st place at the Mid-Michigan Mathematics Olympiad Competition and was the recipient of numerous scholarships.
Pranavi is a huge bookworm and reads anything she can get her hands on. She loves taking nature walks with her dog, cooking and baking, yoga, and spending quality time with friends and family. “I'm super interested in the philosophy of innovation and like to explore how society and culture shape the development of technology,” she says. Pranavi is a certified scuba diver.
