Bryan's Bio

An enthusiastic and dedicated educator, tutor Bryan hopes to encourage students to strengthen their academic skills. From the University of Redlands, he earned his BA in English literature with a minor in psychology and achieved a single-subject teaching credential in English. Later, he attended Cal State San Bernardino where he graduated with his MA in English composition with an emphasis in literature. He has worked as a substitute teacher and is now an adjunct professor for three different colleges.

As an educator, Bryan first helped his fellow students in undergrad as a writing tutor. After graduating, he was a substitute teacher for middle schools and high schools and worked as a writing tutor at the community college. His substitute jobs spanned all subjects, including long term positions in math classes at the high school level. Once he earned his master's, he began to guide students on their academic paths as an adjunct professor. Bryan has also been a tutor for PrepNow's sister brand, StudyPoint since 2013. He has tutored test prep including SAT, ACT, and PSAT, and enjoys helping students to excel in all aspects of the tests. Having been in the test prep industry for over a decade at this point, Bryan is comfortable and confident in teaching math, English, reading, and science.

Bryan’s teaching style is patient and focused on helping students build upon what skills they already have. During a tutorial, he hopes to act as a guide rather than a lecturer so his student can gain full comprehension on their own. To achieve this, he reminds students of the academic tools learned during previous sessions and has them review the concept they’re struggling with those tools. This method of having the students apply their academic strengths to tackle the obstacle helps them build solid comprehension and active study skills. He also uses a teach back method to see if there are any gaps in the student's knowledge when they are asked to teach a concept or walk through a problem.

When Bryan isn’t teaching or grading, he enjoys taking his four year old daughter to the park or zoo, watching movies, and playing video games with friends. He’s also fond of taking spontaneous road trips up and down the California coast with his family.
