Quinton's Bio

Quinton’s expertise includes cell biology, biochemistry, cell tissue culture lab, developmental biology, advanced developmental biology lab, microbiology, and immunology. He has experience tutoring hundreds of students ranging from 6th grade to college level, both in group and one-on-one settings. He is proud to share that his students have experienced significant boosts in their understanding of materials and, consequently, their grades. “Several of the students that I have mentored have been able to apply, and be accepted into, highly competitive internship programs!”

Quinton earned a BS in molecular and cellular biology from Harding University, where, as a sophomore, he began teaching as a TA in cell biology. Right after graduating, he earned an MS in biochemistry and cellular biology from Rice University, where he enjoyed mentoring several undergraduate and high school students. Twice a week, he held small sessions to address any students’ concerns and help them better grasp concepts discussed in class. As of fall 2022, Quinton is excited to start a PhD program so he can fulfill his dream of becoming a college professor.

Quinton’s approach is efficient, patient, and personable. “My experiences have taught me that one of the best ways to learn is to teach the subject material,” he posits. “When I first engage with a student, I like the student to explain/teach me what they know about the subject material,” he adds. This approach allows the student to “fortify what they know about the subject by strengthening the areas they don’t know as much about.” Ultimately, he wants his students to get to a place where they don’t need his help anymore.

At Harding University, he won the Outstanding Student Award and the Student of the Year presented by the Department of Biology, Molecular, and Cellular Biology. During his studies, the Arkansas Department of Higher Education awarded him with a research fellowship, which allowed him to participate in research far earlier than his peers. He also placed 2nd and 3rd in two separate biology competitions hosted by the Arkansas INBRE academy and the Arkansas Academy of Science.

As a graduate student, the Nation Science Foundation awarded him a graduate research fellowship, which paid for his studies and research expenses. In high school, Quinton was involved in football, baseball, orchestra, several academic clubs, and several other school-sponsored groups.

Quinton is an avid animal lover and always makes time to get outdoors. “I also will not shy from a lazy afternoon playing video games, either,” he adds.
