PrepNow Tutor - Jenine M.
Aviation project manager and engineer Jenine is an enthusiastic advocate for youth. In this role—and all others—she is positive and encouraging. Jenine earned her BS in environmental science at Spelman College; she then earned her BSE in environmental engineering at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. While an undergrad, Jenine became a member of Zeta Phi Beta, an historical African American sorority; she is also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. Currently, Jenine works in the environmental and aviation field. She has received numerous FAA awards for her work.
In college, Jenine worked as a TA. “I found great joy and reward in seeing my students improve in their skill level and gain confidence in their ability to understand and master the subject,” she says of this time. She has since tutored students from kindergarten to twelfth grade in standardized test taking—including ample focus on the ACT and SAT. She also spent years tutoring college students in STEM subjects, resulting in average score increases of multiple letter grades.
Jenine is a patient and dedicated tutor. “I seek to encourage the student to build confidence in their own ability,” she explains. The key to increasing the skill level of a student is practice. “During sessions, my goal is to encourage practice and quick memorization tools to help students retain their knowledge and build their skill level.” Ultimately, “I believe that all students have the ability to achieve the academic success they desire, with confidence and practice.”
When she was young, Jenine was a Girl Scout and was a Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awardee. Today, she is passionate about health, wellness, and fitness. She also owns her own bakery. She loves to travel, and enjoys learning about different cultures and languages. In fact, she has been to five African nations!
