PrepNow Tutor - Morgan W.

A thoughtful and resilient tutor who values connection and making a meaningful impact on others, Morgan is curious about the world and open to diverse perspectives. She holds a BA in medicine, health, and society from Vanderbilt University. From 2021 to 2024, Morgan taught high school honors biology. Currently, she works as a legal assistant, tutors test prep, and is preparing to start graduate school in fall 2025.
“I became a teacher because I wanted to impact students as my teachers impacted me,” Morgan says. “My proudest accomplishment as a teacher was achieving a significant increase in standardized test proficiency in one year. This moment highlighted that my students and I were much more capable than given credit.” During her time in the classroom, Morgan spearheaded several initiatives, including chartering the Science National Honor Society, developing partnerships with local businesses, and designing a curriculum specifically designed to support parents of students with disabilities. In addition to her years of teaching biology, Morgan has tutored a myriad of subjects, including algebra, Spanish, and English.
Morgan’s teaching style relies on developing rapport with her students. “I believe that students learn best when they are respected rather than condemned,” Morgan says. “I am curious about student misconceptions and seek to understand students' thought processes when reviewing their mistakes. I believe that rote memorization is insufficient, and instead, seek to foster more meaningful understanding and critical thinking.” As a teacher, Morgan achieved the highest standardized test proficiency across a charter network of five schools.
In high school, Morgan played varsity soccer and was a member of the color guard. She was also involved in several honor societies. In college, she was a member of Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science and the chairperson for MOSAIC, a student-led organization that served to recruit students to Vanderbilt.
Outside of work, Morgan enjoys painting, cooking, spoken word poetry, and lifting weights. Morgan hiked 250 miles through northern Spain. Her 2025 goal is to learn how to roller skate. “I embrace challenges and am always looking for opportunities to improve,” Morgan says.
