PrepNow Tutor - Allison R.

Allison has worked in a myriad of classrooms with students of all ages. Her specialties include math, English, and test prep. She holds a BA in English and theatre from Ursinus College and an MEd in secondary English education from Sacred Heart University.
Allison began tutoring as a Title 1 tutor in a private school in Norwalk, Connecticut, where she focused on elementary reading and math skills. She later tutored English and math at a tutoring center in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, and more recently, she is contracted with Chester Upland School District, where she tutors fifth-grade math. While most of her experience is with younger students, she’s eager to work with high schoolers, “so I may be the best help to everyone I can,” she says.
“I like to get to know my students to best adapt what we’re doing to their needs,” she says of her teaching approach. Her experience working with Title 1 students allows her to work with struggling students who may require more dedicated, personalized interventions. In her view, healthy tutor-student relationships lead to deeper learning and greater confidence. “I think all teaching needs to begin with a foundation of respect on both ends,” she adds. Ultimately, she wants her students to develop the drive and passion to reach their goals.
In her free time, she loves reading, playing video games, loving on her cat, and hanging out with friends. Fun fact (and testament to her integrity): “I once ruined a game of Two Truths and a Lie by forgetting to lie.”
