PrepNow Tutor - Hannah W.
An organized tutor, Hannah is passionate about science and enjoys working with students. She holds a BA in biological chemistry and Spanish from Grinnell College and an MEd in secondary education from West Chester University. After earning her degrees, Hannah worked as a high school science teacher for three years, teaching chemistry and robotics. She currently teaches chemistry at a charter school.
“I believe that education is a tool for advancement and that every student should have access to amazing educational opportunities,” Hannah says. “This belief is why I got into teaching and tutoring. I want to help every student reach their goals, and I love being able to witness when things start to come together, and students understand material that previously confused them.”
When tutoring, Hannah always starts by building relationships with her students and tailoring lessons to match their interests and learning needs. “When students feel comfortable, they feel more confident, which helps them be successful,” she explains. “I also try to make lessons engaging and accessible so students aren't so intimidated by the content that they're afraid to dive in.“
As a student, Hannah played softball, basketball, and ultimate frisbee; she was also in band. She loves to read, run, strength train, and hike, and her goal is to visit all 63 U.S. National Parks. She also enjoys watching Survivor, solving puzzles, and spending time with friends and family. “I completed a 10-mile hike this past summer in Shenandoah National Park,” Hannah shares.
