PrepNow Tutor - Jackson N.
Jackson specializes in K-12 math (pre-algebra, algebra, advanced math, data analysis, geometry, and trigonometry), science (aerodynamics and other topics in physics), and ACT/SAT prep. He also has experience tutoring English and social studies.
He earned a BS in aeronautical science and a minor in psychology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he graduated summa cum laude. As a certified flight instructor, he teaches aviation-related topics in both one-on-one and classroom environments—and, of course, in the sky! His experiences as a pilot and pilot instructor allow him to break down complex concepts (like aerodynamics and other branches of physics) into manageable parts.
Jackson has been tutoring informally for most of his academic career. “Math always seemed easy and made sense to me, so I would always be helping others in class or friends after school,” he says. His proudest moment was seeing his little sister, whom he tutored for the SAT and ACT, get into her top-choice colleges.
Jackson’s approach is based on building strong foundational skills. “I believe in teaching the true topic so the student actually learns how to problem solve, instead of only knowing how to choose the best answer,” he explains. When it comes to test prep, he focuses on critical thinking skills so students can handle any tricky questions that come their way. Ultimately, he wants his students to be able to tackle problems independently and confidently.
His academic excellence and leadership skills earned him the Bob Hoover Presidential Scholarship for demonstrating leadership in the aviation industry, the Runway to Business Scholarship for high performance and leadership, a Provost Scholarship (from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University), and others. Outside the classroom, he enjoyed wrestling, football, soccer, basketball, and pickleball.
When he’s not tutoring or (literally) flying, he likes to go rock climbing, biking, caving, and hiking. He also enjoys a good nonfiction book, “mainly books that help me become a better person, or just help me improve in some way.”
