With over eight years of tutoring experience, Lekha aims to build confidence and test-taking skills through structured practice, feedback, and goal-setting. She specializes in tutoring K-12 English, history, math, and test prep.
In 2017, she graduated with a bachelor’s in biology and two minors in business and psychology from Nova Southeastern; in 2025, she earned a podiatric medicine doctoral degree. She fell in love with tutoring when she was a student, often helping classmates demystify complex concepts.
Since college, she has worked as a medical scribe at the Metabolism, Endocrinology, & Diabetes department at Michigan Medicine. She also began professionally tutoring with a major national educational company and eventually launched her own business for low-income families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over seven years (so far), she has helped nearly two hundred students become better thinkers and learners, many of whom appreciate and remember her kind, affable nature. “I'll never forget when someone (who was part of a group chat with everyone I taught) mentioned that students were wondering how I am doing weeks after class ended! That was so touching, reaffirming, and rewarding, especially because the course was virtual!”
Lekha takes an adaptive and dynamic approach. She’s quick to assess each student’s background, goals, and hobbies. “Understanding which type of methods best allow the tutee to absorb information is crucial to the approach because I want to make the experience fun, not mundane! I always want my students to feel excited to go to sessions.” She sees the tutor-tutee relationship as peer-to-peer, rather than hierarchical, so students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. “I'm big on making sure my tutee understands that he/she/they/etc. never have to know everything under the sun to perform strongly,” she notes.
Her test prep ethos is all about game-changing strategies that play to the student’s strengths. “It mind boggles students when I show them how to sometimes attack math questions, for example, even without using any math; these tricks and tips can carry someone very far and be a complete game-changer,” she adds. She implements the process of elimination, working backwards, playing comparison games, looking for parallel structures, keywords, and repetition—all strategic moves that save the student time and stress on standardized tests.
She’s proud to share that a slew of 5-star reviews with a prior tutoring company promoted her to be just one of four SAT/ACT prep leaders in the entire company. “It was a challenge that I genuinely enjoyed and conquered!”
Her first-place-winning research paper on the “Advancements in Technology and Innovative Approaches in Diabetic Foot Ulcer Management” earned her a $1,000 honorarium award from the American Podiatric Medical Association Educational Foundation. The same organization also granted her the Crocs Rx Scholarship for her academic achievement and commitment to podiatric medicine.
Besides tutoring and mentoring, she enjoys cooking, singing, traveling, staying active, and acting. “I plan on racking up on some more productions in the foreseeable future!” Fun fact: Lekha competed in a total of three personality pageants—she placed in two and was specially invited to another.
