PrepNow Tutor - Molly C.
A passionate and patient science educator, Molly makes complex ideas simple and engaging. She holds a BS in biology with a focus on biomedical, cellular, and molecular biology from Central Michigan University. After graduating, she worked with Michigan Technological University and developed STEM curriculum for 6-12 graders in the Midwest. “This role helped me realize my passion is in the classroom and with students,” Molly explains. She now works as a 7th-grade science and math teacher, a test prep tutor, and a swim teacher.
“Since high school and college, all of my employment experiences have been directly working with students,” Molly says. As an undergraduate, Molly tutored and mentored student athletes in chemistry, physics, and English, and substitute taught K-12. “One of my proudest moments as a teacher has been when a student told me that science became their favorite class because of me,” Molly shares. “It wasn't their grades or the content—but because they said I made them feel confident, curious, and excited to learn.” Molly is a strong test prep tutor because she’s exceptional at building student confidence and comfort with test-taking.
Molly’s teaching and tutoring style is student-centered. “I am supportive, patient, and encouraging,” Molly says. “I focus on building confidence in addition to understanding, and adapt my approach to match each student's learning style.” Molly breaks concepts into simple steps and explains things in ways that feel simple, not intimidating. “I care about making students feel safe to ask questions and not afraid to get things wrong as we work towards mastery.” Molly helps students learn not just the material but also how to study for the test. “I am patient, caring, and understanding of all students' levels of understanding and needs.”
In high school, Molly was a part of the Model United Nations, the golf team, and worked as a swim instructor. In college, she continued in Model United Nations, worked in various roles, and was a part of a philanthropy organization. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, going to the gym, and spending time with family and friends. “I am also an avid sports lover and enjoy going to watch MSU play or the Chicago Bears!”
