A patient and enthusiastic tutor who enjoys helping students build confidence and master challenging material, Andrew holds a BS in biochemistry and molecular biology from Lake Forest College. Since graduating, he’s worked for Abbvie Pharmaceuticals as a research assistant in the Research and Development department, conducting in vivo and in vitro studies to evaluate new migraine drug therapies. “I bring a strong academic foundation and a thoughtful, individualized approach to learning,” Andrew says. “I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress.”
Andrew first started teaching as a college-level chemistry teaching assistant, supporting students during experiments, reinforcing core concepts, and ensuring proper laboratory technique and safety. During this time, he also tutored college-level chemistry and biology. “I help my students understand complex scientific material by breaking concepts into clear, manageable steps and reinforcing effective study strategies,” Andrew says. Andrew is an excellent test prep tutor, and he earned a very high score on the ACT through his own structured preparation and strategy-based studying. “I’m deeply familiar with test prep content and pacing strategies, including English, math, reading, and science sections,” Andrew shares.
As a student, Andrew played volleyball and tennis. He was awarded the Presidential Scholarship for exhibiting excellent academic potential and talent and the Christopher J. Conner Memorial Scholarship for leadership and accomplishments in and out of the classroom. Andrew loves to hike, play frisbee and golf on the weekends, and play piano when it gets cold.
