PrepNow Tutor - Adithi S.
A flexible, friendly tutor with a keen interest in learning across all different disciplines, Adithi holds a BS in information systems and a BS in psychology from the University of Maryland in College Park. Since graduating, Adithi has worked as a consultant at a finance, accounting, and consulting firm. Throughout her studies, Adithi participated in various interest groups related to diversity and implementing DEO on campus, as well as research and teaching assistantships.
Adithi started tutoring in high school through the National Honor Society program. Since then, she’s taken up multiple teaching assistantships for business and psychology-related classes, built a curriculum for her county library system's STEM program, and has taught that curriculum to middle and high school students. Adithi has extensive experience teaching math and English as core curriculum subjects, and is passionate about tutoring test prep. “When I reflect on what’s helped me be successful in test taking for not only standardized tests, but college-level exams as well, I believe it’s really the testing skills that drove forward results, alongside a basic level understanding of core subjects,” Adithi shares. “I believe these skills can really change one’s perspective on test taking from causing anxiety to confidence in being able to notice patterns and really hack the exam.” Adithi is particularly excited about being able to help students with that mindset shift, especially since she was an anxious test-taking high schooler herself.
An adaptable tutor, Adithi loves working with students and determining what helps them individually get an idea to click. “Each student is obviously very different and learns in different ways, and I think the process of iterating through different methods to see what sticks not only helps the student, but also me as a teacher gain more experience and understanding of different teaching methodologies and noticing patterns in students' learning types,” she explains. Adithi strives to put herself in the student's shoes and remember her experiences as a student. “This allows me to think of what ways would have helped me back then to tackle a similar challenge as the student I'm currently teaching.”
As a student, Adithi participated in Model United Nations, National Spanish Honors Society, National English Honors Society, and field hockey; she was also the recipient of numerous scholarships and honors. She loves to crochet and bake, and is learning to knit. “I love all things fiber, arts, and crafts!”
