PrepNow Tutor - Cal C.
Caleb, who goes by Cal, has over 5 years of experience helping students with all things math, particularly SAT/ACT prep. He has worked one-on-one and in small groups of students ranging from K-5 to the undergraduate level. He specializes in courses like pre-algebra, algebra I & II, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, AP Calculus (AB & BC), calculus (I, II, & III), discrete mathematics, and logic.
In 2020, Cal earned a BS in mathematics from the College of Charleston Honors College; he’s currently earning his MS in mathematics with a specialization in teaching from Texas A&M’s distance program.
While he tutored peers during undergrad, he began professionally teaching SAT and ACT prep online in 2021. After a few years of working as a volunteer coordinator, he returned to tutoring and is currently a head instructor at a learning center.
“I have had many successes with my students, both small and large, but my proudest moment was with one SAT student in particular, who had a very small window to achieve a score increase,” he recounts. After only 5 weeks of sessions, the student achieved their goal score! “This success required discipline and dedication on both our parts, and I could not be more proud of him!”
Cal describes himself as “a calm, but excited and engaged tutor.” His passion for learning is evident, and he hopes this rubs off on his students. He’s quick to pivot to suit each student’s pacing and style. “Ultimately, it is necessary to find what works for each student and engage with them on an individual level,” he notes.
Cal received the Outstanding Student Award from the College of Charleston’s Math Department in 2019.
In his free time, Caleb enjoys solving Rubik's cubes (a hobby he has maintained since age 15), weightlifting, and bodybuilding. He’s also a huge fan of animals, especially cats.
